christmas eve eve

did december fly by as quickly for you as it did for me? wasn't thanksgiving like five minutes ago? yet here we are with two days before christmas! the tree has been trimmed, most of the presents are wrapped, and food prep has begun, so now we just wait for santa ;) 

we start christmas morning with hibiscus cava cocktails and cinnamon rolls. this year's dinner is only a slight variation on last year because, for me, prime rib, potatoes, and trifle are christmas must-haves.

duck fat roasted potatoes
green beans with caramelized onions and almonds
and, of course, gram's chocolate trifle

it's beginning to look a lot like christmas

the coffee table is covered with wrapping supplies, the dishwasher is running for the second time today, there's almost no space left in the fridge, and chocolate cake cooling on the counter - it definitely looks a lot like christmas chez cheeky.

i am already counting down dinner and it's still two days away!

less than three weeks until christmas! what?!

man, december really crept up on me. are you ready for the holidays? i'm not! there's shopping to do, cookies to bake, presents to wrap, and only 17 more days to go! 

for now, i'm getting into spirit with the she and him christmas album and trying not to feel bad about bailing on holiday cards for like the fifth year in a row.
