monday meal planning
i don't always do meal planning every week but fanboy is going to be fending for himself for two weeks, so easy meals with plenty of leftovers are the name of the game.
tonight, i'll be making chicken parmesan meatloaf and tossing a few servings in the freezer for fanboy to have later in the week.
pioneer woman's italian drip beef takes almost no effort and so delicious! fanboy's secret is adding brown ale instead of water. what isn't better with a little beer?
orzo with parmesan and basil is a go-to answer to "what's for dinner?" chez cheeky. it's great as a side or a main dish tossed with some grilled chicken or shrimp.
fanboy is going to try out a new recipe too! crockpot barbecue chicken (with dinosaur barbecue sauce, of course).
all this talk of food is making me hungry!

since i will be kicking off a little break in new england next week and it happens to be august, i figured what better time to take part in susannah conway's august break?
i'll start you off with a refreshing, summery treat: sangria slush

cheekydrinks: sangria slush
is it friday yet? because i have a fun weekend on tap and i want it to start now! and since it's still rather steamy in the district, saturday's girls night we'll be imbibing a twist on my new favorite sangria:
cheeky's sangria slush
- 750ml red wine (rioja or shiraz are great for this)
- 2 cups of lemonade
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1/4-1/3 cup vanilla sugar
- zest of one lemon
stir together all ingredients in a large pitcher. pour into a freezer-safe container and freeze overnight.
spoon into wine glasses and serve.
