it's official: we are homeowners! 

it still seems surreal but given that our apartment is currently filled with boxes and the movers arrive on friday, it's feeling more real. though leaving the district will be a little sad, we are really excited for our new home across the river.

date night

the packing chez cheeky seems to be endless but we are are making progress. last night, fanboy and i found our way out of the boxes to have one last dinner date in our neighborhood. we had a lovely (and huge!) meal at le diplomate. it's a great addition to logan circle and even though we're heading across the potomac river soon, we will definitely return.

things to do!

with just two weeks left until the big move, it's no suprise that our to do list seems to be endless.

in search of the perfect gray

as you may have noticed, i like the color gray. in talking to friends and blog hopping, it seems that there are a lot of us searching for the perfect shade of gray. our new place has an open plan kitchen and living room so i was looking for something neutral that keeps the area feeling bright and open. and thus a small odyssey began . . .

i started with benjamin moore iced slate but it was more pastel blue than gray. great option for a bathroom or kid's room, not so much for dark floors and cabinets. i picked up more paint swatches, spent some time on pinterest, and marthastewart.com. over the weekend i sampled coventry gray, stonington gray, and storm. 

from there, i narrowed it down to coventry and stonington:

and the winner is . . .
  
stonington gray! 

it's subtle but i think it is going to look great. i brought some paint swatches to our inspection today and i'm finally ready to pull the trigger on ordering paint!

even though we are using bolder colors for the bedroom and den, i found choosing those to be a lot easier. is choosing paint colors difficult for you? what is your favorite gray?
